How to Install a Carbon Hood

Installing a Carbon Hood is very simple and can usually be done with very little mechanical knowledge. It is however reccommended that you have a friend to help you as they can be difficult to attach and align with just a single person. Generally it can be done in about 20mins assuming there are no complications.

To start with remove the factory windsheild washer tubes (and possible nozzles depending on your carbon hood model) and keep these aside. Next, whilst your friend is holding the hood unbolt the hinges from the hood itself. Genearlyl you will need a 12mm or 14mm socket for a Japanese car or a 1/2"socket for a US car, there are usually 2 bolts per side. On some car models these maybe hidden underneath plastic shielding which will need to be removed before you can access the bolts.

Replace the old hood with the new one, it should bolt into the factory holes. Replace your windshield washing gear. Now slowly close your hood making sure it doesnt hit anything. At first it may be slightly out of alignment and you may need to play around with the bolts in order for it to be 100% straight. In terms of the hood latch you may need to remove the one from your factory hood or your new carbon hood may come with a replacment, either way it should be a simple job.
