The Advantages of a Carbon Hood

As you are no doubt aware there are multiple advantages which are gained from having a carbon hood. These range from improved asetheics and aerodynamics, weight reduction, strength and cooling.

The most important advantage is that a carbon hood weighs significantly less than its facoty counterpart. With some hoods tipping the scales at 100 pounds and their carbon replacements only weighing in at 12 pounds there are huge weight savings to make. As I'm sure your aware you cars acceleration is directly related to your power to weight ratio. In order to make your car accelerate faster you need to either add power or reduce weight. Adding power will make you faster in a stright line but reducing weight will make you faster in a straight line AND through the corners. Many cars also have an uneven weight distribution with more weights at the front than the back, adding a carbon hood will help to correct this, and once again aid handling.

Many people just buy a carbon hood because they look cool, and make you car look more like a race car. Just a carbon hood and a set of wheels can completely transform the looks of a car significantly. And of course many types come in either OEM or a vented desings for extra looks.

Of course vented designs offer a significant improvement in engine cooling, and a cool engine will be running more efficiently and therefore producing more power.
